Hi, I’m Bobby crispy I thought a lot of people ask me for tips and ideas for writing a heavy metal song Well, I’ll keep in mind that there are several different styles of heavy metal music like trash metal industrial metal IEDs hair metal also known as poodle head metal neoclassical metal and on and on So try to focus on heavy metal music in general So it’s anything though that makes you want to bang your head or chest and that makes me want to do this Ok so I can’t write a heavy metal song for you, but I can give you some ideas to get you started first of all there’s the power chords off the a string The fifth string so that’s open position Second fret third Fifth So the threat Eighth Tenth fret And tough so you try writing a chord progression off of that Or whatever and when you do that try to incorporate the open a string along with it so open a Chord Then try the same thing or we could do the same thing on the open E string Okay next you try that tritone, which was considered evil hundreds of years ago, so that would be like So that would be the top string fifth fret and the fifth string 6 fret Incorporate that into a rhythm It’s also With the rock blues scale, which when played loud and fast and distorted doesn’t sound like blues, but metal like Add that into the thumps – And when playing chords try going up one fret like top string E to F Starts to an A to B flat Repeat to Yeah, okay as far as rhythm patterns go There’s a lot, but I’ll show the basics straight 1 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 There’s like the galloping ruling like 1 & a 2 & a 3 & 4 Then there’s 1 2 3 4 1 1 2 3 4 1 Then there’s a straight one for people watching people want these people to undertake something Okay, so as far as writing a heavy metal song goes Make sure you have the distortion rod, so that’ll get you into the right frame of mind Unless you’re writing a ballad or a children’s song you don’t want to sort okay, and have someone write with so he can get some feedback and to brainstorm ideas Same thing with jamming sometimes when you Jam great riffs just need to come out of nowhere So as far as actually writing a song let’s try like start off with a riff a chord progression Then try to think in your mind, what would sound rate when it comes in a snake Or. I try going somewhere randomly like Mix it Okay, and here’s my link to my heavy metal swollen creek tips one and two okay, I hope that was helpful and Thanks for watching
